Hi Kat! I saw your video on youtube about your missionary returning home. My missionary is about to leave and I honestly don't know how to prepare myself mentally for what the next two years will be like. Can you give me some advice based on your experience? As of right now, I am not mormon, but I read your conversion story and I am also curious as to what mormonism is about; I guess that's a question I could ask my missionary. I'm really scared that over the next to years we'll lose interest in each other and I really don't want that to happen while he means to much to me right now.
I felt EXACTLY what you're feeling and that's normal. I was always scared he would meet and connect with an awesome, spiritual sister missionary in England and lose interest in me! Haha! But it was the total opposite. Being apart made him realize how much he loved me! And that's what I've noticed happened to many other missionary girlfriends. Just enjoy your time with him right now and take LOTS of pictures/videos. And even though you don't fully understand the gospel, just try to help him with his big transition in his life. Daniel and I sometimes would pretend he was actually on a mission and I was an investigator so he'd practice teaching and preaching the gospel to me. It worked out because I got to learn what he believed in as well! Waiting for him to leave and that actual day is the hardest thing you'll have to experience during the wait but things will only start getting easier once he leaves! After he leaves, you can start counting down to something happy (his homecoming) instead of counting down to the dreaded day (him leaving). That's how I look at it :)
Also join the "Waiting for a Missionary" Facebook group. That also helped me a lot :) I hope I helped though! Contact me if you ever need someone to talk to!
